I’ve grown up with technology and have been very quick to pick up computer related information. It all started when I was around 5 years old and we got our first computer. Back in the day this 386 mHZ computer was top of the line loaded with Windows 3.1 for Workgroups, a big step up from the Tandy computers we had in school. A couple years later we decided to upgrade to a 486 mHZ computer and this was the first one I actually built. From there I’ve had my feet wet in many aspects of the tech sector.
During middle school I enjoyed watching ZDTV/TechTV (Rest in Peace) with Leo Laporte, Patrick Norton, Chris Pirillo, and the rest of the gang as they would talk tech. These guys were my role models, they spent everyday just learning and sharing all the information about the tech sector. Eventually the network merged with G4 and became what it is today, but these guys are still around doing podcasts and 24/7 streaming and helping share information through the interwebs.
Once I landed in High School I had finally decided on what I wanted to do, Digital Animation. So I decided to expose myself to as many types of animation as I could, ranging from cartoons, to animated films, to even video games. In fact, this is when I discovered the MMORPG and thought to myself, wouldn’t it be cool to land a job doing animation for these guys?
Along came college, I started at our local JC and got through the majority of my general education and transferred over to Cerro Coso who had (at the time) a Digital Animation program. I then began taking Photoshop classes, art classes, and a Java Programming class online. Java was the big downfall, my tech roots grabbed hold of me showed me how much I love programming, and at the same time Cerro Coso stopped their Digital Animation program. So what has strong art elements and computer programming? Web Design was the obvious choice and here I am today.
Not only am I in school right now, but I also work part-time for a local Technology Consultant where we figure out AV systems and computer/data infrastructures for architects who then build commercial buildings and schools. Its a pretty sweet job as I get to use my new web skills, dive more into the enterprise levels of technology, and work with some awesome people.
